Kentucky is a state in the central-eastern United States with a long history of alcohol production. It is one of the top 10 wine-producing states in the country, responsible for some 2 million gallons (7.6 million liters) a year, but it is far better known for the production of Bourbon. In fact, around 95 percent of the world’s Bourbon is made in Kentucky. Currently the most searched-for product on our database from Kentucky is Blanton’s The Original Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
The state covers 40,500 square miles (105,000 sq km) between the western slopes of the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi River, and is bordered by Tennessee to the south and Indiana and Ohio to the north. The continental climate here (technically “humid sub-tropical” on the Koppen scale) makes for very hot summers and cold winters with frequent snowfalls. The Ohio River, which forms Kentucky’s northern boundary, is effectively the dividing line between the sub-tropical and continental climates of the eastern states.
